My own running journey has spanned everything from a casual 1-mile jog around my neighborhood with a stroller to running a marathon in the mountains of Haiti.
Running is my “me time” – something I do when I need to clear my head or spark new creative ideas for a work project. Which is why it’s so important to me that my running gear is high-quality, durable and comfortable.
Whether you’re a casual runner, following a strength and running workout plan, or training to run your next marathon – these are the absolute best lululemon running essentials for women.
A few reasons why we love shopping lululemon include:

Although most training leggings can be used for running, the Fast and Free Leggings were truly designed for the unique needs of runners.
This lightweight fabric is sweat-wicking, fast-drying, breathable and made with four-way stretch to move with you through every stride.
We especially loved how many pocket options you have with these – three waistband pockets and two side drop-in pockets for all your essentials.
These leggings also feature subtle reflective details down the shins, which is a nice safety detail for anyone running outdoors.
Sizing Notes: These leggings run true to size and come in 25″ and 28″ inseams. Lindsey is 5’8″ and wears a size 6 in bottoms. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the 25″ Fast and Free Leggings.
The Energy Bra is the MVP of sports bras for our team because of how versatile it is. It offers good compression and support without restricting movement or being too tight. It also comes in a high-support version which is great for high impact sports and bigger bust sizes (B-DDD).
This is our go-to bra for everything from NML workouts, to running, to spinning classes, to yoga.
It’s breathable and sweat-wicking, and one of the items we continue to repurchase because it’s such a wardrobe staple.
Sizing Notes: This running bra runs true to size. Lindsey typically wears a size 34B bra, size 6 in lululemon tops, and is pictured wearing a size 6 in the Longline Energy Bra.
Lightweight, fast-drying, breathable and made to move you through every stride -the Nulux fabric in these shorts is truly amazing.
These shorts come in two styles: biker shorts and classic-fit shorts. We found both styles to be great for athletic thighs!
The biker shorts are designed without seams in the inner thighs and with silicone grippers on the hem to prevent the shorts from riding up. While the classic shorts have a high-cut leg opening for a wider stride and a built-in liner for coverage.
Sizing Notes: These shorts run true to size, and come in a 3″ inseam (classic-fit) and 6″ inseam (bikers). Lindsey is 5’8″ and typically wears a size 6 in bottoms. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the High Rise Classic-Fit Fast and Free Shorts.
The Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve is one of lululemon’s most popular tops. This long sleeve shirt is designed for training, with a slim fit and seamless construction to minimize distractions. The Swiftly Tech line also comes in short sleeve and tank top versions, as well as race-length (cropped) options.
I personally think this is one of the most flattering athletic tops on the market. It has the perfect support-to-stretch balance, and is lightly compressive without being restrictive. We also love the shape-retention and anti-stink technology of this top – perfect if you wear shirts multiple times before washing.
Sizing Notes: This running shirt runs true to size. Lindsey typically wears a size 6 in tops. She is pictured wearing her typical size in the Swiftly Tech Long Sleeve Race-Length Shirt.
lululemon began offering shoes for women over two years ago, and has expanded and perfected their line since then.
We own and wear both of lululemon’s running shoes: the Beyondfeels and the Blissfeels.
For longer runs, we gravitate towards the Beyondfeels – they have a significantly thicker foam cushion on the bottom, and a wider toe box.
For shorter runs and day-to-day wear, we prefer the Blissfeels. They’re a more neutral running shoe, with a lower cushion height.
Sizing Notes: These shoes run true to size. Lindsey is pictured wearing her typical size (7.5) in the Beyondfeel Running Shoes. For reference, Lindsey also wears a size 7.5 in Nike shoes and size 8 in APL sneakers.
The Fast and Free Biker Shorts and Fast and Free Classic Shorts are the best running shorts from lululemon. They both are specifically designed for runners, with lightweight fabric and anti-chafe technology. Another popular option is the Hotty Hot Shorts.
The Energy Bra is the MVP of sports bras for our team because of how versatile it is. It offers good compression and support without restricting movement or being too tight. Another popular running bra from lululemon is the Run Times Bra, a high-support bra made for cup sizes B-G.
