Happy Spring!
This Wednesday (March 27) was SAT School Day and the College and Career Planning Team visited schools across all five boroughs to provide support and gather feedback. Thank you for all your efforts to ensure students and staff were prepared for another successful administration. With College Decision Day on the horizon (May 1), your offices will continue to buzz as seniors bring in their acceptance letters. College Decision Day aims to support our seniors to make informed postsecondary decisions, celebrate their plans, and encourage younger students and families to start planning now. Refer to this tip sheet from the Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) to help students think about the best financial fit and factors to consider when taking out loans. Visit College Decision Day Resources for sample activities, checklists, templates, posters, and other planning resources. Thank you once again for supporting our students’ college and career dreams and congratulations on another successful application season!
News you can use Bulletin:
- A special shout out to our College Champion Ummi Modeste, one of our NYC school counselors City-As-School High School who wrote a piece regarding challenges NYC public students face in the admissions process.Thank you for your fierce advocacy to support students postsecondary success!
- The Department of Consumer Affairs introduced new regulations to protect New Yorkers from Predatory For-Profit Schools. Advise seniors to do their research before they enroll in for-profit colleges. As most NYC students who attend for-profit colleges are less likely to graduate and more likely to leave college in debt.
