May 5 – Weekly Update

Happy Teacher and Educator Appreciation week! Last week, we kicked off the Decision Campaign for May through June, with a congratulatory note from the Chancellor to students from the class of 2020. In response to COVID19, many higher ed institutions have extended their deadlines beyond May 1st including various City University of New York (CUNY) campuses.  As a result of these changes in the Postsecondary Planning landscape, and the Mayor and Chancellor’s shared commitment to provide our high school seniors with one-to-one counseling to support their college and career aspirations, our Decision Campaign celebration will extend until the end of the school year.  As you continue to advise students with solidifying their postsecondary decisions and celebrating seniors, please refer to the resources below to inform your efforts. Once you meet with students 1:1 and track their postsecondary plans we encourage your school community to celebrate students’ accomplishments. We also  invite you to highlight your students’ postsecondary decisions on your school’s website and social media by using the following hashtags: #FutureReadyNYC and #IDecided. Ensure students have media consent forms before posting on social media. We know that you are working diligently to support our students’ needs and their postsecondary planning dreams, on the behalf of the College and Career Planning community, we appreciate you!
