May 19 – Weekly Update

Greetings! This weekly update focuses on the importance of tracking students’ postsecondary plans and resources to support practitioners. Last week, the principal’s hub included guidance on high schools documenting postsecondary plans for each senior in the STARS Postsecondary Tracker within a week of each student’s commitment until June 30. The STARS Postsecondary Tracker is a support tool for schools to document graduating seniors’ postsecondary decisions.

Refer to the STARS Postsecondary Tracker FAQs for guidance. For technical support with the STARS Postsecondary Tracker, consult with the Postsecondary Tracker Wiki and contact your school BCO academic policy and systems lead. You can also connect with your College and Career Planning team point for Decision Campaign supports. Now more than ever, our shared goal is to ensure that each senior in the Class of 2020 has a strong postsecondary plan for life after high school.

Once you have supported your students with their postsecondary decisions and documented their plans, it is time to celebrate their accomplishments. We encourage you to highlight your students’ postsecondary decisions on your school’s website and social media by using the following hashtags: #FutureReadyNYC and #IDecided. Ensure students have media consent forms before posting on social media. Thank you for helping our students bring their dreams to fruition, we wish you a strong week!
